What Is an LTB Order in Ontario?
An LTB order is a legally binding decision issued by the Landlord and Tenant Board after a hearing. Orders can require a tenant to pay rent arrears, vacate the unit, or compensate a landlord for damages.
They can also require a landlord to make repairs, reduce rent, or stop certain conduct. If a tenant receives an eviction order and does not comply, the landlord can request enforcement by the Court Enforcement Office (sheriff).
If a landlord ignores a monetary order, the tenant can file it with the Small Claims Court for enforcement. Our LTB Paralegal can help you understand, respond to, or enforce any LTB order you have received.
